Here we are in Day 5! I'm SUPER EXCITED to get you even this little bit of information so you can start thinking about them before we go more in depth!
Here is the continuation from yesterday!
Our physical environment is one we don’t usually think about when it comes to our health.
The World Health Organization (WHO) defines environment, as it relates to health, as “all the physical, chemical, and biological factors external to a person, and all the related behaviors.” Humans interact with the environment constantly. These interactions affect quality of life, years of healthy life lived, and health disparities.
Why Is Environmental Health Important?
Maintaining a healthy environment is central to increasing quality of life and years of healthy life. Globally, 23% of all deaths and 26% of deaths among children under age 5 are due to preventable environmental factors. Environmental factors are diverse and include:
· Exposure to hazardous substances in the air, water, soil, and food
· Natural and technological disasters
· Climate change
· Occupational hazards
· The built environment
Some of these may seem like you have no say or control over, but we will go into each of these when we get to that weeks content.
Some of the things you can look at now are:
+The chemicals you use to clean your house and wash your clothes.
+Do you sleep with your phone beside your head?
+Is the router to your internet in your bedroom?
+Are you in an older house or apartment that has lead paint?
+What is the mold situation like in your bathroom?
The Company You Keep
Relationships, whether romantic or not, play a vital role in our well-being! They affect our mental and emotional wellbeing, as well as our survival!
Troubled relationships, tend to breed stress and weaken immunity. Conversely, healthy relationships can strengthen the immune system! There is so much to share here! For now:
Take notice of the types of relationships you have. Work, friends, drinking buddy, wing man/woman, romantic… Are any of these relationships causing you stress or unease? Is it an unhealthy relationship? If you are not wanting to ‘let go’ of this relationship, how can you start empowering yourself in the situations where this person, or people are causing stress or unwanted feelings?
Passion and Purpose
When you feel as if your life has meaning, research shows that you may be less likely to develop sleep problems, have a heart attack, or die prematurely. Just saying!
While everyone defines a purposeful life for him or herself, it’s basically the idea you’re here for a reason. Your life makes sense. That… you are significant in this world. And you are!
Whatever makes you feel connected or drives you forward, big or small, is enough! We will explore your work, and how you physically enjoy connecting to the world around you.
Everyone defines passion and purpose differently for themselves. For the sake of this program, Passion and Purpose is something physical you do.
What do you feel passionate about?
It can be something like looking at art, or creating it! Or, maybe its making food, or it’s the work that you do.
Purpose can be tied to what you are passionate about, or not! For example, I am passionate about bowling and helping people live a life they love, but bowling does not give me a sense of purpose! Haha! Its just HELLA FUN! What do you enjoy doing that gives you a sense of purpose?
Nothing is too big or too small to connect you with your passion and purpose!
The mind, body, and spirit are connected. When we can peal back the layers of the mental, emotional, and physical body, we are able to tap in to the depths of our spiritual body. This is why Spiritual Forces is the last topic we will go into.
Everyone has a different view of what spiritualism is. Please note, I am not talking about religion, although religion does has spiritual aspects. Spiritual Wellness is generally considered to be the search for meaning and purpose in human existence. This may lead you to strive for a state of harmony with yourself and others while working to balance your inner needs with the rest of the world.
The path to spiritual wellness may involve meditation, prayer, affirmations, or specific spiritual practices that support your connection to a higher power or belief system.
Spiritual Wellness is a balancing of the inner and outter forces we have to deal with on a day to day basis. Here we seek to find harmony between what lies within and the social and physical forces that come from outside.
If you are experiencing Angels, or other beings, that is another topic we can discuss another time. :o)
What are some of the things you already do to connect inward?
How often are you doing this?
What is one thing you can put into place this week that would support you in going inward?
Talk with you more tomorrow where we will dive into Sound Healing!
