You know what, most people struggle with healthy eating. Our country (the United States) doesn’t exactly set us up for success!
There are more processed food options at low prices that it can be hard to resist. We have to take extra care in choosing our fresh fruits and vegetables because of traces of mercury and pesticides. And to top it all off, a lot of our “natural” foods have been engineered for longer shelf like and to be resistant to the chemicals sprayed on them!
Really, we are all just trying to do the best we can with what we have. Hopefully, T60 is helpful in guiding you through some of these things.
Maybe you want or need to lose weight.
Maybe you’re sick and tired of being the self-deprecating big guy/girl in your group of friends.
Maybe you just had your first kid and realized you need to be there for him/her growing up.
Maybe you woke up this morning, looked in the mirror, and finally came to the realization that it’s time to start taking care of yourself.
Whatever your reason, you know its time for something to change. I think Nerd Fitness says it perfectly:
“You’re smart and you know what real food is, so stop eating crap.”
You know what real food is: things that grew in the ground, on a tree, came out of the sea, ran on the land, or flew through the air. Meat, fish, eggs, vegetables, fruits, nuts are all great examples of REAL food.
On top of that, you know what crap food is: food that comes from a drive-thru window, a vending machine, box, bag, or wrapper. If it has an ingredient list longer than A Game of Thrones, it’s probably not good for you. If it started out as real food and then went through fourteen steps to get to the point where you’re about to eat it, it’s probably not good for you.
Use this information and combine it with this mantra: “you can’t outrun your fork“. When trying to lose weight, feel healthy, and get in shape, 80% (not an exaggeration) of your success or failure will come from how well you eat.
I KNOW THIS IS NOT NEW NEWS TO YOU. However, the ability to actually do it? That is what I want you to look at. Its easy to talk yourself out of it. I have totally been there! I am working with a personal trainer and she has totally revamped my diet to help me meet my goals. And you know what!? In just one week I am already seeing the change! I’m not kidding! CRAZY!!!!!
Now, Im NOT a fan of “diets”, detoxes, juice cleanses, or crash-fads that result in vast fluctuations in your body weight and health. These are the useless solutions that are sold to you in pill form, in MIRACLE DIET INFORMATION ads online, and in super expensive health food stores. IT IS NOT SUSTAINABLE!
Heres the thing. Some people can radically adjust everything they eat overnight and have no adverse effects. Other people wouldn’t dream of giving up certain foods and the second they go more than a few days without it they become this crazy irritable person. It happens.
BUT! Know that you are not a slave to your taste buds. You just need to prepare yourself for the change you are making. Its not about depriving yourself. Its about empowering yourself to make profound change in your life.
This may be really hard for some of you but you know what? Its has to happen if you want to see change, feel change, and be the change.
Go through your cupboards and refrigerator and get ride of EVERYTHING that is processed. Keep everything that is a REAL food. Then go grocery shopping to fill the void with REAL food.
Now, I know the Holidays are just around the corner. This is a time you are going to talk yourself into doing this AFTER the holidays. Look, you are a big girl/boy. Im not writing this to make your life difficult, I am writing this to support you in having a better life. So, make the changes where you can.
